Tell the Egyptians: Help Free Gilad Now!

The fate of Gilad Shalit awaits your help. The Egyptians are mediating negotiations between Israel and Hamas. Don't you want Hamas to release Shalit now? You can make a difference by urging the Egyptians to intensify their efforts on Shalit's behalf. The Gazans are being urged to pressure Hamas on Shalit (Ynetnews, Nov. 17) Add your voice to the world effort to advocate for Gilad Shalit's immediate release! Read our suggested text, or write your own.

Urge your synagogue and community to sign on to this crucial effort.

Please send all cards to:

Maged Abdelaziz, Egyptian Ambassador to the UN
Egyptian Mission to the UN
304 East 44th St.
New York, NY 10017

We also encourage you to write your own letter to Gilad.

Travels with Blondi

Asaf "Blondi" Tsur (photo on the left) was an ordinary Israeli teenager. One day a terrorist changed all that, when Blondi and sixteen other innocent Israeli men, women and children died. Wherever you travel, take Blondi's photo along. Take a picture of Blondi with you, family and friends during your travels. Email it to Yossi@Blondi.co.il, and you will become part of "Blondi's World Tour," a campaign to keep the memory of Asaf "Blondi" Zur alive and to put a face on the battle against the terrorists.

A bereaved Israeli father keeps his murdered son's memory alive and asks others to live out his dreams, by Aryeh Dean Cohen, Jerusalem Post. On 5th March 2003, Asaf, a 17-year old Israeli high school student nicknamed "Blondi," was on his way back from school in Haifa when a suicide bomber exploded on Asaf's bus..

As every young Israeli does, Asaf would have finished high school and Israeli army service and would have gone on a trip to see the world. Now, Asaf's father Yossi is sending Asaf on his world tour. He has made available Asaf's picture online and asks people to help take Asaf to wherever they go - India, Thailand, New Zealand or the Wall of China - and send him photos.

"I felt, and I still feel, that it's my role to take his picture and go out into the world from person to person and say: 'Look, this is Asaf, my son; look what the world lost when this happened.'" – Yossi Zur, Asaf's father.

Israeli High-Tech Meets Tikkun Olam

Sustainable Israeli technologies are reaching rural African villages - through the cutting-edge non-profit organization Jewish Heart for Africa (JHA). In just the past several months, JHA has completed several projects in Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia. Their first initiative, Project Sol, finances and installs Israeli solar panels to power schools, clinics and water pumping systems. Educational opportunities are enhanced, solar refrigerators are installed for storage of medicines and vaccines in clinics, and clean water is provided for thousands of African people - all through the energy of the sun, and Israeli technology.
