Evelyn Seelig, Vice President
Evelyn Seelig, AZM Vice President, is a past president of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism (1994-1998) as well as a past president of MERCAZ-USA, the Zionist Organization of the Conservative Movement (1998-2002). As President of Mercaz USA, Evelyn helped to coordinate the election to the World Zionist Congress 2002 and led the Conservative Movement delegation, resulting in the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency's continuing support of the Masorti Movement and other institutions in Israel. She has sat on the Boards of the Jewish Theological Seminary, Jewish Braille Institute, Jewish Council for Public Affairs, United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and the Jewish Agency for Israel, among others. She currently serves on the Boards of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Masorti Olam and MERCAZ Olami in addition to that of the American Zionist Movement.
Evelyn began her volunteer careeer in her Sisterhood at Temple Beth Torah, Westbury, NY, a synagogue of which she and her husband Burt are charter members. Evelyn was its third Sisterhood President, and she went on to fill a variety of capacities in Eastern Long Island Branch leadership, culminating as President.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University in Banking and Finance and worked on Wall Street as a Municipal Bond Analyst. Her main Hebrew education occurred as an adult, leading to her Bat Mitzvah.
