About Or L'Dor
Working Mission Statement
Or L'Dor, a division of the American Zionist Movement, connects young people from across ideological and religious spectrums by providing a forum for hands-on exploration of the Zionist vision in a contemporary context. This vision calls for the realization of the collective potential of the Jewish people, at the very core of which lies a strong and vibrant Israel as our homeland. Through social, cultural, and educational events, we will advocate and articulate the Zionist values that enrich our personal Jewish identities and unite the Jewish community as a whole, including social responsibility, self-determination, and taking action towards the betterment of the world. Our mission is to:
- Connect and Inspire Each Other: Strengthening the American Jewish community
- Engage with Jewish and Israeli Culture: Sharing traditions and discovering new cultural horizons, closing the gap between the US and Israel
- Create Opportunities for Dialogue: Raising awareness of the critical issues facing our people locally and globally.
- Participate in Collective Action: Offering opportunities to improve and repair societies in the US and in Israel.
Herzl said that Israel was to be a "light unto the nations." Our enthusiasm and commitment to Zionist and Jewish causes gives testimony to the fact that as Or L'Dor, we are "lighting the way for the next generation."
