MEDIA ADVISORY

On 100th anniversary of Balfour, the American Zionist Movement conference will reenergize and reclaim Zionism

(Monday, November 6, 2017):   The American Zionist Movement (AZM) will convene its National Conference in Washington, DC from November 15-17, 2017, taking place during “Zionism Anniversaries Month” and commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration and the 70th anniversary of the UN Partition Resolution, two key events in the path to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.

The conference, with over 50 presenters, will feature key speakers including Ambassador Ron Dermer; Baroness Ruth Deech; Malcolm Hoenlein;  Col.(ret.) Richard Kemp; Brig.Gen. (ret.) Yossi Kuperwasser; Gusti Yehoshua-Braverman: and Richard D. Heideman.  The program includes panels, discussions and briefings on Israel and Zionism, and special events, including The Balfour Gala hosted at The Embassy of Israel, and sessions on Capitol Hill featuring a Congressional and Diplomatic Luncheon honoring Ambassador Dermer. Richard D. Heideman, President of AZM, said “Zionism, the term and the ideology, is under attack like never before. The American Zionist Movement is leading a campaign to reenergize Zionism and remind the world of the historical  connections and rights  of the Jewish people in the ancient land of Israel, as context for the modern State of Israel. On the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, which led to widespread international acceptance and support for national sovereignty for the Jewish People in their indigenous and ancestral land, this conference will reclaim the rich history of the Zionist movement in the U.S., among decision-makers, opinion-shapers and all Americans.”
